5 February 2026: Official Launch of the RoSH Initiative

On 5 February 2026, the University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) officially launched the Research on Sexual Harassment (RoSH) Initiative in Pointe aux Sables under the theme “From Data to Action: Building Safer Workplaces for All.”

The ceremony brought together distinguished stakeholders, including the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Mrs Marie Arianne Navarre-Marie; the Director General of UTM, Dr Dinesh Kumar Hurreeram; representatives of national institutions and industry bodies; and international partners, notably Dr Priti Prabhughate from the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI), who joined via videoconference.

The official unveiling of the project website, rosh-initiative.org , marked an important milestone, reinforcing the initiative’s commitment to transparency, collaboration and the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge.

December 2024: Project Preparation

Grant Approval: The RoSH Initiative has received funding approval from the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) under the "Knowledge for Action to End Violence Against Women and Violence Against Children" program.

Next Steps: The team is currently preparing for project launch in July 2025, including:

  • Finalizing research instruments and methodologies
  • Recruiting postdoctoral fellows
  • Establishing partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Preparing ethical approval applications
  • Setting up project infrastructure and website
